colds flus winter health

Autumn has arrived bringing with it a dip in temperatures and the return of cold and flu season, almost everyone we spoke to over the weekend had a cold.

Both colds and flu's are respiratory infections, determining which one you have may be hard. Generally a cold takes hold gradually but flu strikes suddenly- you can feel fine in the morning and then very unwell by afternoon. Classic cold symptoms congestion, sore throat and sneezing are less severe than flu which includes fever, fatigue muscles aches and headache.

How Supplements can help

Supplements help your body to fight cold and flu viruses, they do not suppress symptoms, for that reason you may not feel better immediately after taking them but what they do is help you recover faster.
Vitamin C shortens the duration of a cold and minimises the symptoms, it helps your body build white blood cells which fight invading germs, we recommend taking one 500mg of Vitamin C 3 times daily.
Echinacea stimulates the immune system to mount an attack against the virus, the tincture form is absorbed faster in the body, taking 30 drops in water 3 times daily helps to reduce the severity of symptoms.
Manuka Honey is famed for its anti -bacterial and anti-microbial properties and is also very soothing for sore throats, we take a teaspoonful every few hours.
